When I turn on the XT after opening the OS, the laser light on the machine turns on and when I look at the motherboard, some but not all its light are on. But the 2 files do not upload to the machine and nothing I do either on the computer or on the machine does anything at all with one exception. And that is when I push in the big red stop, a light on the motherboard will go out and when I pull the stop out, the light comes back on. So, in my thinking, it either the computer, the cable or the machine itself. My husband tested the cable and all test ok. So we are down to either the computer or the machine. It has been so long since I set this machine up that I can remember if there is some settings in the network that has to be made. Recently my internet service got disrupted and I had to unplug and then plug in the electricity so it would initialize. This has happened before and there was no problems with my machine. The modem/router is upstairs connected to my main office computer. And the computer that runs my XT is downstairs connected by wireless network to the upstairs router.

Several weeks ago, I had a bad accident with the XT. When I turned it on, it crashed into the hoop and although the needle did not hit the hoop, the presser foot did. Rod helped me though that and it ran fine afterwards. But now it is dead in the water. And that condition came on slowly. Sometime it would start up with no problem, and sometimes I would have to try every half hour until it finally would come on.

So, any ideas? I did take out all the wires on the motherboard and re plug them in. That didn't help.

Well, I haven't gotten any replies yet. It seems to me that the computer is not talking to the machine. The cable is OK. We have tested it and every pin is getting current thru. Do you think it would be advisable to reload the software? Also, when first setting up the communications, is there any setting I should check? It has been so long that I can't remember what I initially did.

Juli, you are WAY above my pay grade on machine maintenance. I wish I had a clue for you. Reloading software is my default fix. Do you have a back up computer you can try? Not on my embroidery machine computer BUT I once had the port on a computer get worn out and not get the message through cables.

I'm thinking maybe a network card going bad. Do you have a different computer you can try things on?

I think I can dig up another computer to try to communicate with the machine. Thanks all.
