applique question

I just completed my first applique design without any problems. But how do I remove parts of the satin stitch (cover stitch) around the applique? I am putting a complex fill over sections of the applique and if I leave it, it is too bulky. Hope this makes sense! I have Design Shop Pro version 7 on Amaya XT.

Did you design it or was it from a distributor like Stahls????? what format is it, .ofm or .exp.?
You may just want to open the design in DS and delete the outline completely and "redraw" it with a single line stitch, skipping the parts that will be covered.
