I tried to get the Amaya to do this in 2008 after many calls to Melco and others it came down to you can not sew jumps (not trim) in the Amaya system.
They did not allow for it to be done in the software.
You can increase the length the a trim will be done to some extent but that is not enough.
You can use design shop to place walk stitches if you want as long as they are being sewn over but a 3" jump stitch or leaving the thread to be trimmed later in large lettering can not be done.

Has anyone tried using the " manual stitch" for this purpose? I have not tried it to see just how long a stitch the machine could make.
The only issue I see, off hand, is non wire-framed designs like DST, EXP, etc, would have to be converted to wire-frame to be able to add those stitches and not everyone has that ability in DS....depends on the level of software they have.
Guess I will have to play with this and see for myself.....
