    The best investment ever made for me in this category continues to be two, $1.98 quilt templates from the fabric store. They are a stiff but flexible plastic. I cut the top into a round shape to make it easier to slide into sleeves and small baby items. It springs back out, forming a shield between the garment and the hook.

    They save my bacon every time I need to embroider something that is so tight that my Silver Surfer wants to eat it.

    I do the same think with Teflon/ plastic flexible cutting mats that I picked up at the dollar store.
