  • Z axis timeout error - Please Help!

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum.

I am having trouble with my machine. I keep getting the "Z axis timeout error" massage every time it CUTS. It sews just fine. It only messes up when it cuts the thread. I have tried it on every presser foot level, and still no success.

When it cuts I hear a loud thud, or banging noise. And the thread gets tucked up under the bobbin handle. (The little thing you flip out to hold the bobbin that also locks it in place).. I don't know how the thread gets under the handle, but it does. I use the maintenance head timing, to raise the head up, and and untangle it manually, and then proceed to sew again.

Again, it sews perfectly, just when it goes to cut, it bangs, tangles, and gives me the "Z axis timeout error" message. Can anyone help me solve this problem??

Many thanks in advance for your help!!

I've been having a problem with my XT today. I just loaded McAfee AntiVirus onto it a few weeks ago, and noticed the virus scan was running. I shut down the machine, shut down OS, then cancelled the scan. Restarted OS and restarted machine, and all is working like clockwork. Because this computer is mainly for the machine, and just downloads designs when I need to from the internet, I hadn't put McAfee on it before. But running the scan when starting OS definitely messed with it. Could yours possibly have something similar going on?

I don't think so, the computer that is connected to the machines does not have a internet connection. I am on using a different computer to write to you.

I have restarted my computer, programs, reloaded designs. etc. I don't know why this is happening. I have 3 identical machines. One of which started this problem a few weeks ago, and now all three are doing it. The exact same problem on all three! I have done all maintenance, and routine scheduled maintenance. So I don't know why they would do this.

        Stitches~

Is your machine near sunlight? Is it on all needles or just one particular needle? Does it happen on a certain design or area of a design? Do you have an XT or a big red? When was the last time you oiled the bobbin/hook? What type of thread are you using? Is it newer thread or has it been sitting around for awhile? What about the last time you cleaned out the bobbin are and the bobbin case?

The more info you can give on problems the better someone can help you...

          Stitches,

Have you gotten the problem fixed?

Sounds like it is trimmer related,,,Possibly the retaining finger if it is not centered or to far in. But all 3 machines???

          More info would also help.
