  • Big patches

I had a small order for big patches (12 x 12) that I sent out to a patch maker to do. After 2 months they couldn't even give me a status on my job. So I pulled it. I sent it off to Q Digitizing on a recommendation of one of the groups because they could digitize in ofm. Of course I can't do a 12 x 12 design so I split it in two which was very easy as the whole top part of the design was all together. And I added some manual stitches that fell on the first part of the design so I could do a perfect line-up. That part worked like a charm. The first part was 102,000 stitches and the second part was 11,000 stitches. I ran it at 1350 st/min and it ran very smoothly! Hardly any thread breaks, perfect registration. My customer loves it!

If anyone is interested in exactly how I lined up the two hoopings, contact me. It is easy to do with our Amayas.

Hey Juli, haven't heard from you in a while. It sounds like you've found the same trick that I use when making a continuous designs that require multiple hoopings on altar covers and vestments. It may not be worth the investment for the occasional job, but we do most of our embroidery using the 16 x 16 area of the tubular sash (jacket back) hoop. Even this isn't big enough, so I digitize what I call "match points" that I can use to make sure things line up. I have other tricks for this type of large design matching if anyone is interested.

The reason I haven't been around is that somehow, someway I got turned off receiving individual emails and couldn't, for the life of me, find how to turn it back on! But, I found it last night- YEA! You will see me here now.

So, my latest is I am getting a big laser. It will be shipped in about a week, if they can figure out how to do that without costing me a fortune. I will be about to to applique, just cutting out the appliques for others, reverse applique which I am very excited about, Abercrombie & Fitch type messing designs and lettering which is very in now. All this besides being able to etch marble, tile, wood, and a million other materials. And I can cut my rhinestone designs on inexpensive materials like oil board. Learning the new program is no fun! All the keys are different from Corel.

And BTW, my customer came and got what patches I could get done yesterday. He loved them!

Yes, matching points. That is the way to go. And I have been using the Magic Hoop - love that thing. So easy to hoop with.

BTW, our church is going to start construction this month. We have been over 4 years in a tent!

I agree It is the "Magic" hoop,
But just to avoid confusion it is called the Mighty Hoop by hoop master

              It is my fav.....!

Also I would love your tips on matching
