Needle Durability

Newb question...

How long does the average 75/11 or 80/12 needle last stitch-wise? Has anyone ever tried to roughly estimate or is there a way in the OS to show a count for each needle?

Until it is dull or bent, broken burred.

Now with that said...

If I get any sewing change
thread breaks
shredding
poor stitch quality
ect...

I change the needle

If I have a need for a thin or thick needle

I change the needle ( I never reuse a needle )

once it is out it is out.

I do keep a needle log with date & stitch count
it shows that I get from 100,000 to 1,500,000
stitches out of a needle BP more then sharps.

BUT I change as needed and that is my only
rule.

If there is an issue the needle gets changed.
it is the least expensive part of our machines and
the one with the most ware.

TAKE NOTE I ONLY GO THROUGH ABOUT 30 NEEDLES A YEAR
Unless I am doing the annual maintenance
When I change them all.

Well thanks again for the insight. I don't hate the answer after all lol. I have noticed recently that a lot of problems I have are quickly alleviated with a needle change. I will take everything you said into my slowly growing knowledge base.
