Create an applique with the letter "Y" in Brushscript2 font

How do I create an applique with the letter "Y" in Brushscript2 font in DesignShop Pro v9? I do not see the input tool bar. The letter Y is 4" x 4".

Click borders, enable auto borders, then you should see a drop down where you can select applique and you will then see applique just to the left of the window. Now you can enter all your preferences. At least pro + works that way.

I'm jumping in here re: applique and auto borders. When I have letters and use auto borders and choose applique instead of satin, DS crashes every time! I get the Windows error message box saying that DS has closed and do I want to report the error. Does this happen to anyone else? Is there something I can do to fix it? I have the 9.00.101 version of DS Pro +
