  • getting design to pro to recognize original colors

How can I get Design Shop Pro Plus to load a design in its original colors? It's such a pain and time consuming to change the colors back to the original.

What file format are you trying to view?
OFM design shop native format does retain color info.
Many others don't unless your use the native program that created them.

To add to what Jerome said, you can save your file if it is not an ofm. as an ofm. format which keeps the colors as he said. Also, you need to set up your color palette in DS to match the thread brand you are using and save it as the default. You can even select your most used colors to be visible on your side panel in DS for quick selection when choosing your colors for your project. Go into the color properties box to do this.

One more thing, if you want those colors to be visible in OS when you load the design you need to go into tools/settings tab and uncheck "use colors from design" provided you have loaded your thread colors on the thread tree (which is also in the color setting's tab). It will then bring up the color number in the color settings in OS for easy view.
