Needle Orientation

How do I check needle orientation. I read the manual and put in new needles, but I want to be sure they are placed correctly. I have an Amaya XT, bought it used, so still learning how to do things.

"Check your needle orientation
make sure they are straight forward.
NO more then 5% and that is VERY VERY slight to the right. never to the left.
Also make sure they are all the way up in the clamp.
Use a magnifier to check the orientation.
Don't look at the eye look at the shaft of the needle at the grove it is much easier to see the amount on either side of the grove, then the eye."

I would add:
Make sure that the scarf of the needle (the indentation down near the eye) is facing toward the back of the machine.
