Possible new Amaya xt user

I'm new to this forum, I have a chance to buy an Amaya xt machine. It has OS version 7.00.118 that comes with it. I have a few questions about this before I buy. Can this version be upgraded to run on Windows 8 or do I have to run on an older computer? Can this software be transferred to my name? And what would it cost to transfer? Do I need another program to develop downloads into this machine or is the operating system used for this? I know this is a lot of questions but I'm lost! Any help would be greatly appreciated. Yes, OS 7 will run just fine on Windows 8, you need to call Melco to discuss transfer of software and pricing and yes, Amaya software can read .sew files.
