  • Embroidering Dad Hats Help

I was hoping someone could help me with a Amaya XTS with a cap frame hoop. I can work on any hat that has a reinforced front panel but when I try to work on the dad hats I can't figure out how to keep the front part of the cap from shifting causing the threading to be inconsistent. Every hat I work on, I add a tear away inside to catch the thread.

I have been at this a long time and have never heard of "Dad" hats. Is the an unstructured hat?

I use a 3" piece of tear away in the center and a long piece as usual. And I make cuts in the crown side of the stabilizer . For some reason that extra short piece adds a lot of stabilizing to the hat. The 3" piece is actually the left overs from the previous hat. So I don't have to cut a new piece. It works like a charm.

thank you for the advice! Is it possible to take a picture your setup? I'm not too familiar with what part is the "stablizer".

The stabilizer IS the tear away.
